“Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani constantly emphasized that the Islamic Azad University expansion in abroad must be taken in to serious consideration by the IAU board of directors,” the Director General for the Islamic Azad University International Affairs Department said.
“The services that Ayatollah Hashemi has provided for Iran and especially at the Islamic Azad University are not hidden for anyone. He followed up the university issues and board of trustees meetings with effort, accuracy, and energy,” Dr. Hossien Ebrahimi mentioned to the vital role of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani as the founder, chairman of the board of founders, and the chairman of board of trustees at the IAU.
“Due to my responsibility at the international office, I have visited Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani for several times. He believed that the IAU in Iran reached its growth and development, and currently it is the time for the IAU to expand its foreign activities to be successful at the international arena,” Dr. Ebrahimi said.
“Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani at the last IAU board of trustees meeting that was held with his presence indicated that the IAU expansion in foreign countries should be considered seriously by the IAU board of directors in addition to the expansion of IAU offices in 16 countries.” he added.
“Further to the viewpoint of Ayotollah Hashemi Rafsanji, and his emphasis on establishing branches in Iraq, and Oman, certainly launching branches in Najaf, and Karbala cities, the objectives are among the IAU International office agenda, so that his wishes will be fulfilled,” Dr. Ebrahimi indicated.
“Ayatollah Hashemi stated that the IAU international expansion should not be limited to the 16 countries that its branches are currently active, but it is possible to have scientific presence anywhere in the world, and the IAU can play its role in this regard,” he pointed out.
“On 8th January, some officials were supposed to travel to Iraq to check the establishment of the IAU Najaf branch, but the trip has been postponed due to the loss of Ayatollah Hashemi .” Dr. Ebrahimi declared.
“Based on Ayatollah Hashemi’s opinion and his persistence on launching branches in Iraq, and Oman, the issue will be pursued in Najaf, and Karbala cities, via Int’l office.” He stated.
“Ayatollah Hashemi was satisfied with the Islamic Azad University active participation at international associations, and he emphasized on the fruitful and suitable presence of IAU in foreign countries,” Dr. Ebrahimi added.
Dr. Hossein Ebrahimi Islamic Azad University Director General for international Affairs informed about launching 3 new international offices of this university in France, Finland, and Austria.
“Most of the Islamic Azad University international courses hold at the M.A and Ph.D. levels. Part of the IAU international courses will be held in the form of the Persian literature courses”, Dr. Hossein Ebrahimi said.
“One of the main goals of the IAU is developing the international activities. All universities want to develop their international cooperation, so one of the bases of expanding the IAU activities is participating at the credible international associations,” Dr. Ebrahimi mentioned.
“To fulfill this purpose, we have launched a studies office that checks scientific associations of the world, and paves a ground, so that the faculty members become members of the credible international scientific associations, and we can utilize their scientific and educational capacities in the future,” he added.
** Nobel Peace Prize Winner at the ASAIHL conference: IAU created educational and social justice in Iran
Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta, the Portuguese Noble Peace Prize winner expressed in a meeting with Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh at the ASAIHL international conference: he is astonished to become familiar with the glorious university, named Islamic Azad University.”
“Currently, there are more than 40 countries in the world that their population is below 2 million people. However, the student population at the IAU is approximately 1.7 million” Horta added.
“The Islamic Azad University is like a country, and definitely its management and leadership will be similar to a government. Definitely, this university has a proper and exact structure to meet quantitative and qualitative growth and development to such extent” he asserted.
Dr. Mirzadeh said, “Development and geographical expansion of IAU in Iran has created the opportunity for all students to educate.”
The president of the Islamic Azad University at this meeting presented a report from the activities of the university, and added, “All Persian speakers and Iranian residents abroad have the opportunity to study at IAU”.
“The IAU can be a model, and pattern for the members of the ASAIHL, and developing countries,” Dr. Mirzadeh mentioned that the expansion of the IAU has created educational, and social justice in Iran.
** Dr. Ebrahimi: IAU office in Malaysia to be established in three months/ New Offices will be founded in sixteen countries by 2025
The Islamic Azad University Director General for the International Affairs in a press meeting regarding the latest ASAIHL conference informed about the establishment of the IAU office at UPM University for the next 3 months, and emphasized the establishment of 16 new offices in other countries.
“The ASAIHL conference held during 4 to 6 December in Malaysia. Two main programs proposed at this conference. The first program was the election of the president and the new members of the board of trustees for 2 years, and the other program was planning for the goals of this conference” Dr. Hossein Ebrahimi the IAU Director General for the International Affairs regarding the ASAIHL conference said.
“The ASAIHL association established about 60 years ago, and it is now cooperating with the south east countries in Asia. This association transformed from the regional status, and universities from Australia, Belgium, France, and USA are now the members of it. Before holding the latest ASAIHL conference, the IAU from Iran was the only member of the ASAIHL association, and upon the ministry of science and research and technology request 8 other universities and research centers from Iran become a member in the ASAIL association. Currently, this association has 230 members from 35 different countries, “he continued.
“Scientific and academic exchange, facilitating the relation among members, and educational centers are among the important activities of the ASAIHL association. At the previous ASAIHL conference Dr. Mirzadeh nominated as the vice president of this association, and the secretary of the budget committee. At the recent conference, Dr. Mirzadeh selected as the president of the ASAIHL association for 2 years until 2018”, Dr. Ebrahimi added.
Establishing the IAU office in Malaysia
“The IAU by participating at the ASAIHL conference, held a program with the UPM University, and the presidents of both universities met with each other. Also, a MoU between the two universities signed. Finally the discussions lead to the signing of an executive contract between IAU, and UPM for holding joint post-graduate programs, and establishment of the IAU office at the UPM in the next 3 months. It has been mentioned that through the signed MoU it is possible for both sides to issue joint degrees between the IAU, and the UPM University,” Dr. Ebrahimi pointed out.
16 IAU offices will be established in different countries
“At the latest ASAIHL conference it was decided to reserve the previous name of this association, and the phrase “+G” meaning “other universities around the world”, will be added. Since other because universities from Europe, Asia, USA, and Australia joined the association and now it is activated in all countries,” the IAU director general declared.
The scientific cooperation memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, the president of the Islamic Azad University (IAU), and Dr. Aini Ideris, the president of the University Putrajaya Malaysia (UPM) during the ASAIHL conference held in UPM in Malaysia.
Exchange of professor and student, scientific and academic cooperation, joint research projects, holding joint graduate courses, cooperation to establish and expand knowledge-based companies, etc, are considered as the provisions of this MoU.
At the meeting of signing the Islamic Azad University (IAU) and the University Putrajaya Malaysia (UPM) MOU, the scientific advisor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the representative of the Iranian embassy in Malaysia were present.
The two University presidents expressed their hopes that this MoU will pave the ground for more academic cooperation between Iran, and Malaysia.
